For the majority of people, the cost of heating their home and water supply is a large monthly commitment. However, a lot of homeowners don’t appreciate that they are throwing good money after bad by not installing a heating system that is powered by gas boilers. An efficient system run on gas boilers will not only save you a huge amount of cash on your household bills, but will also be kinder to the environment and reduce your carbon print.

Government legislation introduced in 2005 stipulated that all new gas boilers must adhere to strict energy efficiency laws and homeowners must have their gas boilers checked to ascertain whether they meet these guidelines. A qualified central heating technician will be required to carry out checks and tests stipulated in the Governments L1 document. Once these have been successfully passed your gas boilers safety and efficiency will be given the green light.

It is not just common sense to use a qualified Gas Safe engineer to install your gas boiler heating system, it is law. And failure to comply would render any insurance or compensation claims invalid should you have problems with the gas boilers in the future. Your heating system guarantees would also be worthless. These regulations apply to anybody installing a heating system powered by gas boilers, whether they be a homeowner, landlord or property developer.

The energy efficiency of gas boilers has been greatly enhanced in the last couple of decades with technology leading the way to help create a much more environmentally friendly heating system. Following tests a central heating heating system run by gas boilers built in the 1970’s is 20 per cent less efficient than one manufactured nowadays. A householder who swaps a traditional low ‘G’ rated boiler for a modern ‘A’ rated gas boiler system could on average be expected to reduce their households CO2 emissions by up to a tonne each year. A recent survey found that in the United Kingdom alone, 16 per cent of carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere could be sourced back to oil and gas boilers.

If you have neglected to replace your gas boiler for a number of years, then you are more than likely running a system that is ‘G’ rated, which will only produce an efficiency rate of just 60 per cent. Old gas boilers will be costing you money on heat that it will not generate. Contemporary gas boilers will reduce the amount of lost energy through the systems flue by up to 90 per cent. This will lead to much greater efficiency and save you a lot of money. The installation of a new heating system using gas boilers can help save the average household over £100 a year in home heating costs.

A modern gas boiler system can be installed relatively quickly and with very little effort and will seamlessly replace most types of floor standing and wall hung gas boilers. A householder will also have the option of purchasing combination condensing gas boilers which will serve the home with a constant supply of hot water and heat, whenever it is required. The gas boilers are often smaller than the more common systems and are ideal for most modern homes where space can be at a premium.

Modern digital heating controls add extra efficiency to your household by allowing the homeowner to have much more control over the gas boilers settings. This will make sure your home is always at the required temperature and will slash your home heating bills.
