Great College Tips That Everyone Should Know!

Your college days will be remembered as some of the best and most exciting years in your life. You will get some good information from this article about how to go about living away at college. Keep this information in mind, because you want and need the advice!

Be sure to review your notes at bedtime in preparation for a big test. Doing this can help your brain digest this material while you sleep. During sleep, the mind is active and continues to makes connections, so you will be programming yourself for success.

If you really excel in certain subjects, turn that knowledge into money. Being a tutor to others can be a great way to get yourself a little extra income. Advertise what you can teach on bulletin boards around your dorm on in your student center. Advertising online is another idea as well.

During the orientation phase, be sure to attend several social events that you can meet new people. A lot of people go to a place where they do not know anyone, this may leave you lonely. Making friends will help you transition to college living.

Avoid relying on electives as the way to determine your major. Look around campus for activities that you might enjoy. Join co-op programs and organizations. There are numerous activities every week on the average college campus. Try something new every week if you want!

Whether you are entering college straight out of high school or returning after many years, you may feel somewhat intimidated by the challenges ahead. While it may be tempting to join a student government group early on, wait until your second year. Freshman are unlikely to be taken very seriously. Your first year is also the perfect time to get to know yourself and your strengths a little more.

Choose classes that challenge and interest you rather than ones that have a reputation for being "easy." Giving yourself a challenge can be very rewarding. Choosing classes you enjoy will help you to feel more vested in your work and will also help you to network in your preferred fields.
